The 'del bosco' has been an institution amongst Italian restaurants in Bremen for over seven years now, and belongs to the Hotel Munte, a family run business, steeped in tradition. As is indicated by its name - 'del bosco' meaning "to the woods" - the restaurant is located in Schwachhausen, directly next to the city woods.
The all-Italian gastronomic team, under Head Chef Salvatore Ruggiero, pampers the palate with delicious Southern European dishes. With its wide selection of items on the menu, the restaurant is a true enrichment to Bremen's culinary scene.
The interior décor, in lively, Mediterranean style, puts one in the mood for 'Pizza, Pasta, Carne and Pesce', invoking memories of the most recent trip to Italy. The menu includes distinctly Italian highlights, like: Carpaccio 'del bosco' con Rucola (Beef carpaccio with rocket), Bavette con zucchini e gamberetti di fuime (Bavette pasta with baby marrow and fresh water shrimps), Cosce di agnello con sugo al rosmarino e aglio (Roast leg of lamb in rosemary and garlic sauce) or Tonno pescatore (Tuna steaks, grilled with capers, garlic, sardines and tomato). True to its name, the wine list also reflects the same high quality. A 'Casale del bosco' from Tuscany shows attention to detail, which also met with the approval of gastronomic tester, Heinz Holtgrefe of the Weser-Kurier newspaper. He judged the restaurant as good all around, offering excellent value-for-money. The 'del bosco' is popular amongst hungry diners from the university and technology park not only at lunch time (with its varying daily lunch menu). Dinner reservations are therefore recommended.
